What is the IB?

The International Baccalaureate

When we talk about education and what it means, what we really want to know is how to instill in our students the knowledge that will make them better learners and better people. How can we be sure that we send them off into life with the skills they really need to grow and develop in a successful, happy way? The International Baccalaureate (IB) prepares students to be life-long learners that allows them to flourish long after they’ve left school (IBO Website).

Rivercrest Christian College is an IB World School and the IB curriculum offered at Rivercrest reflects a concept-driven, inquiry learning approach that builds upon the students prior learning and past experiences. While the teaching of literacy and numeracy is a core component of the curriculum, there is also a strong focus on social, emotional, physical and spiritual development.

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. At Rivercrest, we explore the development of these 10 attributes across all facets of the school day.
